A friend of mine helped me to fix it. Just do: mknod /dev/vga c 12 0 as root. This will create the device. Of course you have to have patched and rebuilt the kernel with the XSERVER option (at least thats what I did). However, my X isn't running ... It gets into graphics mode then hangs (I have an Orchid ProDesigner I (ET3000 based card 512K memory)). I have seen articles on this on the net but I am still looking for the fix.
