I've decided to change from Linux to FreeBSD 2.0.5. Although I've recompiled Linux hundreds of times, its the first time I've compiled FreeBSD kernel. I've a problem: I can't get the kernel to recognise my modem on com3 - /dev/cua2 on Linux - /dev/cuaa3 on FreeBSD (I think), I've put a line on the config file with sio2...irq 4..., but it still doen't recognise the third serial port (It explictly say it cant find on the log file), What have I done wrong?? Please help, right now I have to use MS-DOG/Windoze to have ppp access because I cant use my modem with FreeBSD :-( Meanwhile, is there any difference (in practical terms) beetwen PPP on kernel and tunneling(tun)? What's the difference beetwen pppd and ppp? Tiago Rodrigues Antao esoterica.com tra@students.fct.unl.pt telepac.pt
