Currently, my system is setup so that logins happen through xdm. Thus, users don't have to log in to a text session and then start X. Now, the only way I know to get Xman to search ALL the man directories I have on my system is to set the MANPATH variable so that it points to all man directories. However, I like to start Xman from my window manager through a desktop menu and I don't know how to set the MANPATH variable for that particular session. If I start an xterm and run xman from there it works fine because the xman process is 'linked' to the xterm session which has a MANPATH set. However, I don't know how to set variables for processes started within my window manager (ctwm). Without using xdm it worked fine from the menu because the users initial login session set MANPATH and everything started from that login inherited this variable, including X and every application running under X. I have a feeling this is as clear as mud but I hope somebody out there knows what I am trying to get at. Basically, I want to know ... 1) how does one configure the path Xman searches through? 2) if the above requires a MANPATH variable, how does one set this for an Xman not started from an environment from which it can inherit the proper MANPATH variable? Thanks for your help.
