I don't have an idea about proxy ARP (but it's said to work). You can
alternatively run gated on the gateway and configure it to announce
the host route to <mynet>.2 as soon as the PPP connection is up.
Since host routes will take precedence over network routes, the host
address can be out of the pool for the local class C net.
