This is an appeal to the collective wisdom of the readers of this group to

Seagate (out for obvious reasons)
Seconded.
Micropolis (not considered due to no drive in the 1GB range)
Good drives, but expensive, generally.
Fujitsu I'm currently leaning toward this one
Dunno positive or negative -- I don't think they have as big a
following as the others. Is that what you want?
Connor Pretty small cache here. Performance?
Conner is primarily an IDE drive manufacturer, like Western Digital.
I owned some of their IDE drives and liked them, but I wouldn't want
to spend my SCSI money on them.
Quantum Seems to be quite expensive for the class of
drive it is.
I've owned several Quantum drives, and have only good things to say
about them. Excellent quality. My experience is that they have good
prices, too -- dunno what you're finding. My recommendation.
I've received excellent prices, and acceptable mail-order service for
hard drives from a company called MegaHaus in Computer Shopper. You
should give them a call.
