Well, I'm making some progress on getting the IIvx to run with internal video. The problem is that the video space of the IIvx is placed at (hex) 0x60b00000 whereas most other systems do one of three things: * Use a nubus card. * Fake a nubus card. * Remap memory from physical address 0 into nubus space (IIsi/ci). Anyway, if you want to test out a kernel that's close to working (there are still some bugs I need to work out--I don't have a machine to test on, myself...), please contact me or look over the mailing list archives (if they're up to date) on ftp.netbsd.org. It's running on my IIcx as a http server, http proxy server (2 ethernet cards), ftp server, mail server, development machine, etc. Uptimes on my machine don't mean much, but it's been up for several weeks when I was too busy to build and install a new kernel. >We've tried to put it on a IIci, IIcx with no results other than the crash >you mention. We've also tried on a PM9500 If you'd like to give me more info, I can try to help you with the IIci and IIcx. I don't know why you even tried a PM9500... There are a number of people using both the IIci and IIcx, although we don't have the ethernet working on the IIci, yet. I know the information on the ftp sites is out of date. That's on my list of things to fix/clean up. :-( >My only hope is that someone can boost Linux for Mac development. You're always welcome to do so. It would be nice to have another group trying to "compete." Or to have more people doing active work on NetBSD. You can get relatively up-to-date information on NetBSD from the web site: http://www.netbsd.org/ -- more mac-specific stuff is in http://www.netbsd.org/Ports/mac68k/index.html. More up-to-date information can be had by lurking on the macbsd-general mailing list. (Instructions on how to join are on the web site.) I'm trying to put together a nicer snapshot that the 1.0 release. A lot of nice stuff has been added and/or changed. If you have any questions or problems or constructive criticism, send me E-mail or ask on one of the mailing lists. TANSTAAFL, but Linux has apparently made a lot of people think that there is. -allen -- Allen Briggs - end killing - allen.briggs@bev.net ** MacBSD == NetBSD/mac68k ** Where does all my time go? Guess.
