SCSI-3 is mostly marketing, right now. Most products that claim SCSI-3 compatibility just use the 68pin WIDE SCSI connector, while SCSI-2 expected a split 8bit + 8bit cable to be used (i.e. one normal 50pin SCSI cable plus another duplicating some of the control lines and providing the other 8bit of data). There shouldn't be any problems to use a drive sold as SCSI-3 compliant with the 53c825 and the current FreeBSD driver.
