This is true.

Nope.

You should be able to configure it to exit on the Ctrl-Alt-Backspace
key sequence.  In fact, I believe it is the default for Xaccel.

I've never had X lockup so bad I needed to do that.  Excatly twice
have I had to do it because my mouse got hosed over on initialize.
