: Our company (an ISP) set up a (somewhat experimental) Linux 1.2.5 box as a
: 6-line PPP server - it crashes about every two days, the uptime is seldom
: longer than 1 week. Like a time bomb. We are planning to move to FreeBSD.
: And if FreeBSD is still not stable enough, we will eventually move to BSD/OS.

Careful about blaming Linux. In every case, we have found the causes of
crashes to be bogus hardware. E.g. AMI's new BIOS contained numerous bugs
that caused Linux to behave strangely with IDE drives. It was bugs in the
BIOS, not Linux.

We also ran across a card conflict. Again, not a Linux problem.
