Any book recommendations will be EXTREMELY helpful. One of the many good things about FreeBSD (IMHO) is that it's pure BSD. So you can open any good book on Unix and go straight to the bit where it says "if you have a BSD system...", without having to work out which bits of your system are BSD-based, which are System V-based and which are "improvements" the manufacturer put in to make it incompatible with every other version of Unix. My recommendations: Unix in a Nutshell (O'Reilly Publications) - useful for looking up commands. A Student's Guide to Unix by Harley Hahn (McGraw-Hill) - good clear guide on how to use Unix. Essential System Administration by Aeleen Frisch (O'Reilly) - how to set up things like user accounts and generally look after your system. >Also, what software will I need to access my PPP account, and where can I >get it? PPP comes as part of the system. (A little tweaking was necessary to get it to work in 2.0 - I'm not sure if that's still the case with 2.0.5).
