Assuming you are getting your 64K from Telecom Eireann, you don't need any sort of modem. Telecom will provide what they call an NTU (and what other people call a CSU/DSU or modem) as part of the service. [I don't think you have a choice here, even if you wanted your own NTU.] All you need to decide is whether the modem should have a X.21 or V.35 serial connector. What you need for your PC is some sort of supported synchronous serial card. From a quick look on one of my 2.0.5 systems, it would appear that FreeBSD supports at least the following cards: Cronyx/Sigma multiport sync/async (with Cisco or PPP framing) Cyclades Cyclom-y high-speed serial driver (ALPHA QUALITY!) I'm sure other people in this group might be able to tell you more about the FreeBSD side. If you want to know more about the TE side, give me a call (x1531). -- Alan Judge Magic! "Reading USENET is like drinking from a firehose, you'll get very wet but you probably will still be thirsty." - Steve Steinberg
