I guess, IMVVHO, more (commercial) packages are available for Linux
and FreeBSD wants to attract more (commercial) users; A Linux emulator
may encourage people to use FreeBSD. 

But I am afraid, in this case, this is sort of like OS/2 with Windows 
compatibility : since a winodow program can run on OS/2, why bothers 
developing a native OS/2 version ? Here comes the dillema of emulating
or not.
