Yes, I have spent hours trying to work out the problem. Disableing
all the unused devices doesn't make a difference. Even disableing
everything but the essential makes no difference. I boot up and the
boot sequence goes as normal untill after the scsi device probes
have finished then I see nothing more on the screen (where you would
usually see "changing to root device sd0a .... or whatever).
However I can still hear the disk activity which continues for
another minute or so. The I can switch to vt1 where I see a login
prompt and back to vt0 where the Login prompt is visable.

I can start typing and nothing appears on the screen but it is
accepted as input from the keyboard so I can login. If it toggle
back and forth to vt1 I can see that I have indead loged in as there
is a prompt awaiting me.

I reinstalled the kernel from the 2.0 cd /kernel amd am able to
boot up fine and run X without a problem. X will not start from the
2.0.5 kernel.... system just locks up.

So in short I have 2.0.5 installed but running a 2.0 kernel. Not too
good as I need to recompile in support for PPP etc so that I can get
out to the world.

I have tryed rebuilding several kernels with different configs but
the result does not change.

I am at a lose of where to go from here. Has anyone any
pointers?
