I keep getting what look like console messages appearing on unused
(i.e. not logged in) terminals, ttyv, ttyv3, and even on terminals
that I have logged into?  is there anyway to stop this?  It's rether
annoying to be in VI and suddenly a message appears over the top of
your text!
