You are right, but below I mentioned that I had the exact same problems with the GENERIC kernel. Anyway, I got email from someone who told me to upgrade the "config" utility (I'm trying to compile a new kernel on an older FreeBSD distribution) and I'll try that first. >: To be sure of an answer I'll add that we'll convert this machine to >: a Linux box if we can't solve it :) > >Well... then let me respond by saying that if you don't think you're >up to dealing with a real OS then by all means switch to Linux. Hehe, flamewar !!C00l!! :-) Well, we already have a couple of Linux boxes (for example a terminal server serving 16 lines of PPP dialup. It's full every evening and has been up for three weeks) but I just happen to like a heterogenous environment.. every OS has it's pros and cons. It's largely just a matter of personal preference. As we say in Dutch "wat de boer niet kent, vreet-ie niet" :) Thanks - Mike. -- Miquel van Smoorenburg, miquels@cistron.nl Cistron Internet Services Mail info@cistron.nl An independent Dutch Internet Provider for more information CIS +31-1720-19445 (Voice) 30979 (Fax) 42580 (Data) - Alphen a/d Rijn
