I too put together a change to pccons.c including a user level program "pccons" that let's you dynamically toggle between a flipped and nonflipped control/caps lock. I put this code out in a big tar ball that went no where. If there is any interest in the changes I can post them. I also hacked a feature into pms.c and pccons.c that lets the arrow keys and the f1, f2, f3 behave like a mouse -- for laptops. (In general, it's not that useful any more since mice are getting good. But it does let you have three buttons for your mouse -- which is essential for X.)
