..snip more scathing NT remarks.

Just beacuse NT has some/many/numerous/infinite
number of bad points is NOT relevant. One of
it's good point is it has a good GUI and
developoment tools (best is yet to come
when Delphi ports to NT). This one good point
i.e. GUI, seems to be VERY VERY important to
the average user. Just because FreeBSD may
adopt a GUI for sysadmin etc does not mean it
will adopt all/any of NT's (or Windows or Mac's)
bad points. A good GUI on top of a good
OS (aka FreeBSD) would make it more popular
with users. If this is desired then a quick
easy GUI development toolset would ease the
porting of the many existing obtuse scripts/files
and design of new ones by allowing Mr/Mrs/Ms Average
user to develop GUIs without having to spend the
next few years learning Xt/Xlib etc. The idea
is that many hands will make light work and
the many hands will be there IF there is
an easy to use GUI based GUI builder.

To show you what happens when someone does
this. Borlands Delphi is an Object based
event driven drag'n'drop GUI builder for
Windows/Win95. When Delphi was released it
went to the #6 position in sw sales and
is still there. The newsgroup
comp.lang.pascal went from a relatively
quiet group to the busiest newsgroup on
the net.

Who ever heard of a compiler being in the Top 10?
The reason is simple: any idiot could design really
spiffy interfaces for Windows while only
knowing a fraction of Windows internals.
"Want a slider?, no problem: click, click, done"
"Want an SQL engine?: click, drag, drop, next ?"
"Want a file/print dialog'? click, click done"
"Want to build your own component? click, click...,
type few lines, pull up integrated
      bitmap/icon/cursor/XXX editor,
      rebuild library, done"
etc
