 Most PC systems that can run DOS cannot boot any type of OS from any other
drive other than the first drive. You have have a few solutions open to you.
I would recommend that you create a 10MB BSDI root partition on your first
disk. You can then put the '/usr' filesystem and other stuff on your second
disk.

 A boot floppy is a pain. But you can modify the first BSDI install disk to
point to a different boot partition. Do a 'man boot' and there are 
instructions.
