Date: 2 Aug 1995 20:18:01 GMT Organization: Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory Lines: 19 Message-ID: <3vomhp$4fi@overload.lbl.gov> NNTP-Posting-Host: gracie.lbl.gov Is there any way to reconfigure the kernel to let 3c509 card to use different irq other than 10? The problem is that the FreeBSD kernel always uses irq 10 for 3c509 card, and it does not matter how the card irq is set (11, 12, 15). This causes problems on some new Pentinum motherboard which does not allow user to change the PCI irq. The FreeBSD try to configure many cards at irq 10, and cause hang up. The BSDi allow to use irq 15 for 3c509 AND solves the problem. Maybe FreeBSD should use flexable irq for ISA boards, such as 3c5x9 in the future release. For the time being, if some one would show me how to reconfigure the kernel to use different irq for 3c5x9 cards, it will be appriciated. -- /-------------- Jin Guojun ------------ v ---- Internet: g_jin@lbl.gov ----\ | Imaging & Distributed Computing | Usenet: ucbvax!g_jin@lbl.gov | | Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory | Bitnet: -- | | 50B-2239, Berkeley, CA 94720 - jin%george.lbl.gov@Csa3.LBL.Gov |
