I transferred a couple of files to my FreeBSD system last night. I used
Kermit to do the transfer, and the filenames include the "$" character.
Now I can't do anything with them, since when I tried to rename them, I got
an error where it stripped out the "$" and tried to interpret the character
after it as a variable. What do I do about this?

Also, on an unrelated note: Is there a book I can get that gives a good
introduction to X programming? Since I got X working now, I want to try
my hand at programming. I do well in C, so this shouldn't be too hard, but
I am looking for a good guidebook. Any suggestions?
