Because it's probably the only interface that matches the NE2000's
config.  Boot with the -c flag and adjust ed0 to match your card before
proceeding with the install and let us know how that works.

Hmmmm.  This could be related to #1.  Please try to get things probing
as ed0 and then let me know.  It *should* have worked with ed1 too,
but I may have screwed that up since in my test environments it's
always been ed0 and not ed1.
