FreeBSD can't use ext2fs filesystems, if that's what you're asking.
If you're asking if it can *overlay* an empty partition that Linux
isn't using, then that's fine - should work no problems.

FreeBSD is designed to coexist with any OS that's not unhappy to
have a type 0xa5 partition sharing its disk or isn't pedantic
about having a different type of boot manager running.  I believe
Linux fits the bill, and you can even boot FreeBSD with LILO I've
heard but I couldn't tell you exactly how.  Never tried it.
