I did this with FreeBsd vs Linux. Needless to say it took me three months to get an idea of the differences. Ever since I have not read the Linux groups any more. It would surely be very helpfull if anyone who has used them or at least knows about their philosophies would comment. By philosophy of the OS I mean something such as: "FreeBsd is a unix system based on the BSD code from the university of Berckley. It runs on PCs and nothing else....." Another example: "Linux: Originaly developed by Linus Torvarld(?) and it is been ported to an array of platforms. The kernell is maintained by Linus and most of the rest of the code has been collectively done or done by individuals and offered to the Linux team to be incorporated...."
