The pin configuration for the cable is in the header comment in the driver. /sys/i386/isa/lpt.c You need a ten conductor cable and two mail db25's. The parallel port shouldn't have to be enabled bi-directionally because the cable "maps" 5 of the data lines to bits on the status register and then transmits each byte as two nibbles + an ack/ready bit.
