I have successfully installed freeWAIS-0.3 from the 'official' port at ftp.cdrom.com. I have a couple of questions. First, whenever I index a (plain text) file, I get the following message: >> Warning: couldn't open ./ALIASES.syn - translation disabled It doesn't seem to hurt anything, but I'm not sure what the .syn file is supposed to be (it isn't mentioned in the basic documentation). Second, if I index a text file using the '-t one_line' option, it seems to work, and the various index files are created. But when I attempt to do a waissearch on them, I get (every time): >> Floating point exception (core dumped) Any bits of advice or explanation much appreciated. -- Jim Petersen jimp@scarletfire.com
