I saw this too with the original printer driver. I think you need to have a parallel interface which streams interrupt to your system at a rate unrelated to any parallel activity. That you're seeing this also suggests that the original printer driver wouldn't work very well for you, anyway. Mr. Stanglmeier came up with a lpt driver which doesn't need interrupts. I tweaked it a little bit more. It handles my printer fine, and also appears to use LESS(!) CPU than the interrupt-driven configuration.
