i guess that depends on what you mean by `better'.  to me, the ftpd that
netbsd ships with is `better', since it has a lot less code for me to
read through, is smaller, and probably has a lot fewer bugs than wu-ftpd.

i'd suggest you build upon the netbsd ftpd, adding the features you need.
