I'm using a :) Did you have NUMLOCK switched off? (you can also set "ServerNumLock" in XF86Config) NUMLOCK is interpreted as a "modifier-key" like META or ALT. (ATHENA?)-Widgets dont like META-MOUSE1 or NUMLOCK-MOUSE1 for menu.
