I don't know if NetBSD has these virtual consoles built in, but I compiled
screen for my NetBSD machine which provides a similar functionality I think
but it works on any terminal - I am using screen in an xterm window!

I think the latest version of screen is screen-3.5.2.tar.gz and archie should find
it for you..
