I thought that I couldn't use my PS/2 port mouse as long as I allow console logins. Why isn't the LINT config file clear on this issue? Also, I saw this question on the FAQ without an answer at all. > The Problem being that it uses the second channel on the keyboard > controller, and not all systems support it. Don't most precompiled Linux kernels include this driver for generic machines? I'm not sure if Linux supports probing for a PS/2 mouse, but reading the source code (I'm not a kernel hacker!) might be a way to tell. > Admittedly, you probably want to resolve this with a protocol at > the user level, making the user go through an effort to get the > thing enabled (and therefore potentially crashing their keyboard). > I think the only argument you could have with the current > implementation in this respect is that it's too much work to > crash your keyboard if you don't have a PS/2 mouse. 8-). Thanks for the answer. Now, where can I find the status of IDE/ATAPI CD support? I'm pretty sure there might be developers out there working on this... > Terry Lambert > terry@cs.weber.edu > --- > Any opinions in this posting are my own and not those of my present > or previous employers. --Arthur Jerijian jerijian@aixugrad.seas.ucla.edu
