Did you check that the IRQ setting saved in the card is the one in the
kernel config of FreeBSD? I had that very problem this evening... A
NE2000-compatible card right off the box, using IRQ 3, and FreeBSD
thinking it uses IRQ 5.

IRQ 3 is definitely a _bad idea_ as it conflicts with COM ports. So, boot
with DOS, insert the card's driver disk, run the setup/diag/whatever
program, change the IRQ to 5, and boot FreeBSD.

Hope this helps.

Jacques.

PS: I guess this should go in a FAQ somewhere, if it isn't the case...
Many people think that "jumperless" boards just use the settings you give
them... Nono, you have to configure them with the utility provided so that
they use the settings you want. Or maybe some future release of the driver
will be able to do just that?

Jacques.
