An interesting question -- particularly given that I don't know much about POSIX -- is POSIX compliance something to be strived for? Legally, if the common usage is such that they are Unix then they are Unix -- no matter what Congress says. (Sorry about the U.S.-centricism here....:) It's that 1st Amendment thingy about freedom of speech. The right of congress to regulate commerce confuses things a bit, but the 1st Amendment came later and modified any earlier provisions in the Constitution. -- Sphere.
