We had the same problem. When you tip everything is fine. What we did is store 
the baud rate and settings into the NV ram on the modem.

Anyone know how to re-initialize a modem with getty. Like send a ATZ command 
everytime getty restarts or someone logs out?

Any help with this would be great.
