Message-ID: <ellis.716302427@nova> Keywords: irq2, interrupt conflicts, video, serial and net cards Sender: news@zip.eecs.umich.edu (Mr. News) Organization: GMI Engineering&Management Institute, Flint, MI Date: Sat, 12 Sep 1992 12:53:47 GMT Lines: 25 I am running Intel UNIX SYSVR4.0.3. I seem unable to talk to the Belltech ICC serial ports, even though the drivers look to be installed on startup. The last step of the boot process when the onboard code for the ICC board is supposed to be loaded, I get the error message "/dev/icc: device not found". There is a dev entry for the /dev/icc, as well as each of the 12 ports, with and without modem control. I believe this started when I installed a Boca SVGA card (with the ET4000 chip). Although I had not used the ICC ports before, I am sure the ICC code used to load correctly. The ICC cards expect to use IRQ10. Although I am not yet hanging on a network, I also have a net card strapped for IRQ2, that will be recognized as IRQ9. I would like to prophylactically disable the IRQ2 line on the video board. Although I have a pinout description, I am having trouble bringing everything completely into focus. My pinout shows IRQ9 as pin 7. That is the one I need to disable on the video card, right? How do I identify which side and end of the board to start counting from? If someone has other ideas, please share them with me. Thanks in advance. -- -- ___________________ R.Stewart(Stew) Ellis, Assoc.Prof., (Off)313-762-9765 / _____ ______ Humanities & Social Science, GMI Eng.& Mgmt.
