Looking at various documents, it seems that FreeBSD allows one to install
from any _supported_ CD_ROM drive. And the list of supported hardware
says that a SCSI CD drive is OK.

Why, then, can I not install from my SCSI CD drive? I have an Adaptec
1542CF controller, and a Toshiba TXM4101 drive. DOS sees the drive just
fine.

Using the Walnut Creek CD distribution (2.0.5), I run the install batch
file from DOS, this boots the installation kernel, but when I select the
CDROM as the distribution media, it tells me that it can't find a CDROM
drive.

What am I missing? Maybe installation _doesn't_ work from SCSI drives?

HELP! and Thanks very much!

Paul.
