X-Windows on FreeBSD is not different from the version on Linux, so using LaTeX
is not a problem.
The main advantage of FreeBSD is that it uses a Software Upgrade Protocol to
update the software installed. Installing is much easier, because there is a
package-manager which gives an overview of the installed packages. Installing
AND deleting a package is no problem. (With Linux you have to uninstall
packages by yourself)

At the moment I don't know if FreeBSD is available for Floppydisks. I've seen
distributions on CD-ROM and of course on the Internet.
I use a fast internet accespoint (10 MBit) for installation. So far I've had no
trouble installing & using FreeBSD.
