May I append that with those rebuilt bootblocks it works very fine? We just replaced a VGA display and a keyboard by a T switch and some serial cables, it works fine and we can use the same terminal for two different machines (one's an older System V based machine, the other our FreeBSD box running 2.0.5-RELEASE.) But I made the experience that the kernel likes to go to single-user mode when there's no terminal connected. I found a work-around in connecting DSR and DTR at the machine's side of the serial line. Is there any better way? In my humble opinion, the kernel should ignore if there isn't any terminal present at boot time. Or did I just miss something?
