Yeah, but what video card company (or SCSI card company, or sound card
company, or ...) packages technical docs with their product? None
that I've seen...

When I bought my Stealth VRAM (which is for sale, BTW ;) ) there was
no reason for me to think it wouldn't be supported by more than a half
a dozen (or so) apps. I had no idea Diamond would be so paranoid
about their products. The board was very well rated by BYTE (the
fastest S3 board, I believe) and that all I had to go on. Their
Speedstar Plus was also held in high regard.

Since I was buying a whole system at the time, I didn't have a chance
to wait and see how things turned out. There was no indication at the
time that I needed to anyway.

On my most recent contract I was programming for an Orchid ProDesigner
IIs. Orchid was thrilled to death to send me docs. That's why the
board I bought to replace my Stealth is a ProDesigner IIs. A good
card with good support.
