I have just added

ttyd1	"/usr/libexec/getty std.115200"	dialup on insecure

to my /etc/ttys file so that I can dial into my freebsd box. This
has stopped my outgoing SLIP connection script from working.

What happens is that I have a script that calls chat to make the
initial connection on /dev/cuaa1 if successful then the script calls
slattach to change it into a slip connection.

However, with ttyd1 added as above what appears to happen is
that

chat makes the connection OK; it then lets go briefly of /dev/cuaa1;
getty then sees that there is a carrier on /dev/ttyd1 and grabs it
seeing that /dev/cuaa1 is not in use; This then blocks slattach
from opening /dev/cuaa1

Anyone got a work around?

Chris
