This assumes that all Intel *BSDs are created equal.  They're not, and you
should pick the one that works best for you regardless of any other more
hypothetical considerations.  If you genuinely NEED the other platforms then
that's entirely different, but I certainly wouldn't make this kind of
recommendation to someone who's got 10 PCs sitting around and absolutely no
future plans for anything else.  With anything but Intel, I'd recommend hedging
ones bets but Intel is pretty strong at this point and none of its competition
come anywhere close to its current or projected market share.  Yes, the PowerPC
looks nice and I'd certainly like an ALPHA on my desk, but the smart money
still says look to the P6 if you're looking for performance and the largest
array of external options.  We certainly didn't back Intel because we liked the
instruction set! :-)
