I am installing FreeBSD 2.1.0-950726SNAP on a P5-133/PCI machine.
Disk partitioning, BIN and SRC packages extraction and rebooting
from HDD are OK.
But when I try to re-build a new kernel, the following message
appears while in compiling:
Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode
fault virtual address = 0xf53cb708 (*)
fault code = supervisor read, page not present
instruction pointer = 0x8:0xf0121378 (*)
code segment = base 0x0, limit 0xfffff, type 0x1b
= DPL 0, pres 1, def32 1, gran 1
processor eflags = interrupt enabled, resume, IOPL=0
current process = 1189 (cc1) (*)
interrupt mask = bio (*)
panic: page fault
syncing disks... 22 22 22 22 ...... give up
Items with asterisk(*) vary case by case, but others are the same
in all case. This panic happens almost every time I compile something.
I don't know why these page fault traps occur.
My PC is:
Pentium 133MHz
ASUS P55TP4XE MotherBoard w/ 256KB Pipelined Burst SRAM and 16MB EDO
Quantum FireBall1080AT E-IDE HDD (1GB)
Quantum Empire1080S SCSI HDD (1GB), Plextor x2 CD-ROM and SC-200 PCI SCSI
ATI GraphicsProTurbo(Mach64) PCI
(DOS and OS/2 Warp are quite OK on this PC.)
I have never encountered this kind of trap.
Any comments or hints are appreciated.
Thank you in advance.
