  I would recommend a "real" terminal server.  They are pretty cheap ($100 - $140 
per port), and can generally deliver better performance.

  Drivers are generally very incompatible.  BSDI 1.1 binaries will need to be 
statically linked to work  (as an example, Netsite works).
