X-Newsreader: Tin 1.1 PL4 Organization: Albedo Communications - A Public-Access InterNetwork Message-ID: <DDy5xA.46@acton.albedo.com> Date: Sun, 27 Aug 1995 02:07:57 GMT Lines: 30 Greetings from the High Desert, one hour north of Los Angeles and at the end of 2 miles of dirt road. I am putting together a 2.0.5-R machine which will act as a network gateway and packet-screener, and am trying to get 2 3C509 cards to work as the network interfaces. They are configured as irq10/0x280 and irq11/0x300. At boot time, I get the following messages (repeated for ep1): 2 3c5x9 board(s) found at 0x280 0x300 ep0: 3C5x9 at 0x280 in test mode. Erase pencil mark! ep0: eeprom failed to come ready epprobe: ignoring model ffff I've tried various combinations configuring the cards, and I know the driver is advertised as buggy - but can anyone tell me (guessing will even do) what 'Erase pencil mark!' is trying to tell me?! Is there something obvious here that's my fault? Bummin' in Acton, - mike ---- Michael Hamilton / mkh@albedo.com albedo, n.
