I assume that FreeBSD does not support internal modems, especially
software upgradable internal modems, as I have seen no reference to them
anywhere (in the FAQs or the web pages or other misc. docs).

I have the opportunity to buy cheaply a Digicom Softmodem Connection
Series 144+fax, though I am torn because I sure it won't be supported by
FreeBSD, which I want to install soon. The necessary driver software that
comes with it is of course for DOS. How hard would it be to set up an
internal with FreeBSD and to port the drivers for it?!? (I've done a
little UNIX system programming, though I haven't yet had any experience
maintaining a PC running UNIX).
