Date: 30 Aug 1995 22:07:11 GMT Organization: Computer Science Department, Boston University, Boston, MA, USA Lines: 15 Message-ID: <422nef$jtn@news.bu.edu> NNTP-Posting-Host: csb.bu.edu X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] The video card is recognised as wd90c31. It has 512 K of memory on it, so I have to give up 256 colors if I want 1024x768 resolution. Now the problem: VGA16, apparently, can not handle more then 800x600 pixels -- when I go to /etc/XF86config and add the resolution, the picture is screwed up -- there are two mouse cursors, etc., although the resolution is correct. So, I guess, I have to use SVGA driver, but how to tell it to use Depth 4, instead of 8, which it is looking for? Using 8 is impossible due to the video memory limitations. X come up ok, but in 800x600 mode. Thanks a lot! -mi -- -- Why is that 2 o'clock all the time?! -- It is a manometer!!!
