Well, basically when we went to the gzipped kernel + MFS approach for
the boot, the fixit floppy crunchfile overflowed the available MFS space
and died.  It takes some tuning to fit things in the new scheme, and rather
than go back and do that I was actually just going to make the boot floppy
also function as a fixit floppy.  The new sysinstall already gives you a shell
option from the very first menu, and you can also use it to fsck, mount and
inspect an existing filesystem.  I've made the whole thing a lot more
granular than it was!
