i am not sure what you meen by disklabel is missing?  anyway, the way i got
around the reboot loop was to remove the badsect flag from the disklabel,
using `disklabel -r -e wd0', or better yet, remove the :sf field from
the disktab entry.  I do not know if this is the proper thing to
do but, it is all i could come up with.

you must boot from the fixit floppy and create your own disktab entry
to create *real* partitioning.  The process can be found in the FAQ,
from your favorite ftp site.
