I know one reason, and I assume there >are others. Why the need for the cryptic message? Oh Yeah... The only reason it would fail aside from 'can't find ld.so' is because it can't mmap() either the executable or shlibs into memory. I'm not sure this is any better than 'ld.so failed'. At least Sun didn't think so. However, this being said if you want to send me the patches to it I'll try and get them integrated into the tree. >>Remember, every byte added to the activator adds one byte to >>*every* single program in the entire tree. On my laptop, it *is* a big deal. Also, each program uses another K of memory for execution, so however many programs you have in memory *may* be increased by a 4K margin. (Doubtful, but on the average 25% of the program would add an extra 4K page, so we're adding an average of 1K extra/program) This sounds anal I know, but I *like* being able to run FreeBSD on a 4MB laptop with 100MB of disks for FreeBSD. :) Nate -- nate@sneezy.sri.com | Research Engineer, SRI Intl. - Montana Operations nate@trout.sri.MT.net | Loving life in God's country, the great state of work #: (406) 449-7662 | Montana.
