It seems that when I attempt to close the connection that pppd doesn't release the serial port and exit. If I attempt to close the PPP link, and then call right back, the modem answers, but you get nothing... no prompts (so getty doesn't seem to have been re-launched) and no response to anything you type. If I telnet to the machine from somewhere else, the pppd process is still going, and it's a "runaway," chewing up lots of CPU cycles. Could this be an LCP problem? Maybe my client isn't properly breaking the PPP link. But, I've used this setup on several other PPP connections (run on different hardware & OSs) and never had a problem. (Incidentally, the client is a MacPlus running MacPPP 2.1SD, if anyone's curious). thanks for any help... Jonathan jds100s@bosco.cc.odu.edu
