Because FreeBSD paractically installs itself, and if you are
desperate to participate in an install process, that lets FreeBSD
right out?  8-).

That would be configure scripts that take specific advantage of
the non-POSIX features of BASH, I presume?  These would be those
configure scripts which lack standards conformance?

Not to worry, installing BASH is a one line command as root.
